Custom Greeting Cards with Cricut Maker
Making your own greeting cards is much easier than you think. Cricut Maker has a variety of projects and templates for all kinds of occasions, so you can create exactly what you want in no time at all.
Step 1: Load a mat
To start, you'll need to load a mat into your Cricut Maker. Make sure that you've got the right kind! If it's not a cutting mat specifically made for use with your machine, it won't work.
The first step is loading the mat into the machine and making sure it's secure before proceeding further. This can be tricky because there are two different types of mats available: Peel & Stick and Adhesive-Backed. Each type has its own way of loading into your Cricut Maker--you don't want any surprises when it comes time to cut!
Step 2: Select your cardstock and cut the title
Now that you've selected your font and color, it's time to pick out your cardstock.
If you're new to the Cricut Maker app, this can be a little confusing. There are two different types of cards available: regular and heavyweight. Regular cardstocks have a thickness of 10pt (no points!). Heavier ones are 12pt thick--two points!
To begin making your greeting card, tap "Cardstock" at the bottom of the screen under "Project Settings." Then select what kind of paper stock suits your needs best: regular or heavy duty? You'll also find options here for cutting mats if needed (such as glittery paper). Once everything looks good onscreen, hit "Save & Close" so we can move on!
Step 3: Move the title into place on your greeting card.
Move the title into place on your greeting card.
To do this, you'll need to position the cover of your Cricut Maker machine over both sides of your greeting card so that it covers up all other parts of your project except for where you want to place your title (in our case, right in the middle).
Then, use two pieces of double-sided tape or a glue stick to attach those sides together and hold them firmly in place while we move on to step 4!
Step 4: Use sticky back glitter to add sparkle to your card. You can also use other adhesives like double sided tape or foam dots.
